Dubgee

Underground emcee, producer and beatboxer from Vancouver, Canada.

For more than two decades, Dubgee has written and produced music inspired by real events—from Vancouver’s hockey riots and municipal politics to the festival experiences that gave rise to his Doug Tree alter ego.

A multi-instrumentalist from an early age, he moved from guitar, piano and school-band instruments to the sequencers and synthesizers that sparked his love of hip-hop production. His first recordings were built in the band room at Britannia Secondary, followed by The Vancity E.P. and years of production workshops for youth in Vancouver community centres.

His album Truth draws on a decade of songwriting, fatherhood and blue-collar life. On stage, Dubgee brings the material together through live production, looping, beatboxing and his keytar.
